The JLPT N3 (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) is the intermediate level of the exam, designed for learners who have studied for around 600 hours or completed both beginner levels (JLPT N5 and N4). At this stage, you should be comfortable with:

• Reading and understanding everyday texts such as newspaper headlines, short essays, and instructions
• Recognizing and using around 650–700 kanji and 3,500 vocabulary words
• Understanding grammar patterns such as 〜ようにする、〜てしまう、〜ばかり、〜はず
• Following conversations in everyday and slightly more complex situations, including casual speech
• Expressing ideas, giving reasons, and understanding implied meaning in Japanese
